Forest School Training and Outdoor Learning Training across the UK
Cambium Sustainable Newsletter - winter 2024
Welcome to this final newsletter of 2024 from Cambium Sustainable
This year has been a busy one here at Cambium HQ, with new faces, new projects and exciting developments in the pipeline.
This year we've relocated to a new office space, expanded our quality assurance team and developed new ideas and projects for 2025.
On top of all this, we've trained over 500 learners with our wonderful network of Cambium Associate Trainers, plus 10 new Forest School and Outdoor Learning trainers who will soon be delivering quality training across the UK.
At Cambium, we believe that everyone should have access to natural spaces for play and learning. All of our efforts align with this belief and 2024 has been no exception.
Read on for some interesting reads (some great achievements and exciting news from our Associate Trainers and Cambium trained learners), plus a sneak peek into our plans for 2025.
Have a peaceful winter break and we'll see you in the woods in 2025
Want to boost your kid's mental health? Get them outside! Fresh air and nature have a powerful way of calming anxiety and lifting moods.
Studies show that spending time outdoors can significantly improve attention, creativity, and problem-solving skills. So, let your little ones (medium sized ones or big ones!) roam free, explore, and connect with the natural world.
A little bit of nature goes a long way in nurturing happy and healthy minds and you may just help to make the next generation of Outdoor Learning (for learners aged 14+) or Forest School leaders!
Nurturing Nature's Future Leaders
As a leading provider of outdoor learning training, Cambium Sustainable’s network of Associate Trainers empower individuals to become inspiring Forest School leaders.
Our accredited courses equip you with the knowledge and skills to create transformative learning experiences for children.
Through a combination of practical experience and theoretical understanding, you'll learn how to foster a love of nature, develop resilience, and inspire creativity in young minds.
In collaboration with the Royal Forestry Society and Forestry England, we helped produce a new guide to show you how to create a safe, fun and educational space for kids to learn about nature and have a blast.
From setting up a safe area to creating access for groups, this guide has you covered.
"Recent reports from Natural England have highlighted the sizeable benefits of outdoor learning in natural environments. Woodlands, in particular, provide engaging settings for children and young people to explore, discover and gain hands-on experiences to support their physical health and mental well-being."
This guide is freely available for any landowners who are interested in providing access to their land for learning, so please share!
Children 'thriving' at school where outdoor learning at heart of education Imagine a school where learning happens outdoors!
That's the reality for some lucky kids. They're ditching the classroom for gardens, parks, and forests. This outdoor learning approach is not only fun but also incredibly beneficial.
Studies show that spending time in nature can boost creativity, problem-solving skills, and mental well-being. Plus, it's a great way to connect with the natural world and develop a lifelong love of the outdoors.

We're excited to announce our new blended Forest School Level 3 course will be up and running early 2025! This innovative approach combines online learning with in-person practical sessions.
