Cambium Sustainable Newsletter - Spring 2023

Welcome to Cambium Sustainable! You've told us about your interests so we can provide you with content that you'll enjoy. Whether you're an avid walker (dog optional!), enjoy foraging, wild swimming or forest bathing, we have some links below to some great articles, papers, etc that all touch on nature, climate, wellbeing and forest and outdoor learning. We also regularly share interesting content across our social media platforms (see social buttons at the top of our webpage).

Here's Sam with one of his Forest School Skills videos - Round Turn and Two Half Hitches. Cambium Trainers and Learners have their own online support area, based on the widely used Moodle Learning Environment. In addition to providing resources and reinforcing practical learning, trainers can create their own areas to support groups of students.

Interesting information!

All 90 part-funded places of the Forest Education Network England Curriculum Based Outdoor Learning courses were filled and completed March this year.

Our Director, Sam Goddard has featured in some interesting articles such as Muddy Puddles' "Ethos of Forest School at Home".

Natural Resources Wales have a very informative newsletter that you can sign up to.

Festival season

We will be at a few festivals this year providing forest school sessions with Rooted Forest School, including Hay Festival, Russel & Laura Brand's Community Festival, Starry Skies and Green Man.

Wellbeing in Nature

In addition to Forest School, Coastal School, Curriculum Based Outdoor Learning and Additional Learning Needs training, we will also soon be adding Wellbeing in Nature training courses to our qualifications suite. The Wellbeing in Nature training equips people with effective leadership skills for delivering nature-based programs that support health and wellbeing. It's a Level 3 Certificate, so equivalent to a Forest School Leader qualification, and is promising to be really popular, with courses springing up across Wales this year and into next year.

Free training!

Did you know we offer a FREE "What is Forest School" online training module? You can register here - please do let us know how you get on!

Your experience

We really do use the feedback we receive from our training courses to continually improve how we do things. A great review such as this always gives us that nice warm and fuzzy feeling! "It was Amazing! ...how to tie knots and the names of them, how to safely start a fire and how to use different types of tools." If you have worked with us or attended one of our training courses then we'd love to know more about your experience.

Thank you for taking the time to read our blog - we're looking forward to sharing more Forest School and Outdoor Learning information and stories with you. Sam, Holli and team.
